Overview
The mission of Hearts In Motion is to provide care and medical treatment for children, families, and communities through its programs and sponsorships in the U.S., and Central and South America.
Many of their programs and projects are located in the department of Zapaca, Guatemala.
H.I.M. has established itself in Guatemala by consistently providing outstanding care and services since 1990.
A cooperative relationship exists with local Government leaders.
In fact, H.I.M. recently received a contract with the Guatemalan government to train "bomberos (firefighters).
Kathy Janisch, a local Mukwonago resident and volunteer coordinator for Hearts In Motion, has arranged for many "bomberos" to receive training at some of our local fire departments here in southeastern Wisconsin.
Kathy, inspired by her five missionary trips with H.I.M., set up a H.I.M. outreach location at her residence in Mukwonago.
Kathy collects donations, stores them in her garage and then ships them to the H.I.M. headquarters in Gualan, Zapaca, Guatemala.
She collects donations of clothing, shoes, athletic equipment, household items, personal care items, medical equipment and supplies, vitamins, firefighter equipment and much, much more.
Kathy then raises funds to have a truck pick up these items and deliver them to Guatemala.
The shipping of these goods costs around $4,000.
Kathy, herself, raises the money for these shipments.
She works at the Brewer’s concession stands and the proceeds she earns goes towards her shipping expenses.
Kathy contracted ten games this season and has many volunteers that work with her, but she is always seeking more.
